I finally admitted to myself that I could not do it alone and needed help. Sunspire Health Texas (later, Serenity View) came highly recommended by my HR Manager as his son was an alumni. My work told me to "go, and just get better", which was the best thing could have ever happened to me. ... During my first two or three days, I was isolated from the other patients as I was going through detox. Those were the 'longest' days as there was no routine except to eat, sleep, and be monitored/tested by the nurses there. After detox, I was assimilated into the Group. ... Every single minute of your time in rehab is scripted. You have a strict schedule to follow, with a few breaks throughout the day. A typical day involved a morning Group session followed by Breakfast. Then, there were classes and/or counseling sessions until lunch time. Then, there were various physical activities along with additional classes and/or counseling sessions until dinner time. Then, there are additional sessions (which might include loading up into the van and attending an offsite AA / CA / NA meeting). Finally, there's about an hour's worth of TV time before you go to bed. ... Your Counselor will indeed give you homework, which is a great way to dig down to find some of the root causes of your issues. ... Did I mention that I loved this place? ... The staff at the facility is extremely professional and get to know you on a personal level. They are AWESOME!!! You have no choice, you will make friends here! ... The rest, the counseling & education, the FOOD, and the camaraderie are just what I needed (the Naltrexone and Disulfiram have helped immensely too). I have a handful of Facebook Friends from my time there, so we do keep in touch. ... I'm 10 1/2 months sober and am feeling great. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS FACILITY IF YOU NEED ASSISTANCE WITH YOUR CHEMICAL DEPENDENCY. GET YOURSELF SOME HELP. YOU WON'T REGRET GOING TO THIS FACILITY.
Treatment requires work, if you are willing this place will save your life. I flew in from North Carolina. The BHT staff including Katie( I miss your face) Betty(the gators are coming), John, Lauren(Windspire), Joe, Lorain, D, Jo Jo, Joe, :) new guy Samuel and Berry are amazing. They make it so easy to open up. The Counselors I spent time with including Elyse( i will work on my hardheadedness), Charlie,(even though we never shot hoops) Happy( I still want to meet Mrs. butters) and Lori(thank you for the yarn group!!) are incredible. I took away something from every single one of them. Shout out to the kitchen staff......you are amazing and HOUSEKEEPING.....always there for a high five. The maintenance staff Steve and Burn are great! Thank you for taking us fishing every week! Jackie and Kevin made leaving the facility from there to my next destination so easy. Jennifer is amazing! Her and Kevin are the first two people I encountered upon walking in the door. I felt like I was at home. When you go to treatment its not about all the amenities, and they have a lot. Its about getting sober and working on yourself. Some of these reviews are so funny. Its all about what people want when they want it, but how far did that get you during your drug and alcohol career. HAHA I laughed at a few of them. This place saved my life and I couldn't have asked for a better place to admit me at my worst and be able to come back as an alumni for them to see me at my best. Stop complaining and start working!!!! I can't wait for alumni events. Equine therapy is great. I MISS JOY the therapy dog, we had a moment! :) The trainer Dillon is incredible. Sober fun night.... I never laughed so hard! I will miss all of you dearly but I will carry you all on for a life time and for that I thank you for saving my life. Sadie, Pat, Brent, Paula, Dale and the rest of the nursing staff is incredible. Especially Brent, he has a love and care for the patients that is undeniable! Jenna, thank you for your love for all the patients.....I can't wait for some fun with the alumni's!!! To all of you all..... LOVE ALWAYS ALL WAYS
I recommend this to anyone looking to get professional help. I also wanted to thank the staff for helping me
Great place when you need to get rejuvenated and get back on track. Thank you for all you do for us.
I was a patient in Sunspire Health Texas, from March 25 - April 24, 2018. The majority of the staff were great, I wrote several kudos for some staff members prior to my discharge, but I left several people out and I wanted to take a moment to recognize those who I didn’t mention in my kudo shoutouts. I’m happy that one of your Bht’s Andreea is not a prococurante kind of person. She displays empathy for the patients as well as being proactive in making sure patients request are met, when she is on duty. Bht Danisha has a great demeanor about herself and helps when asked. To the Nursing Staff you guys Rock! Some patients may not realize the compassion you guys have, the care you all demonstrate too your patients. You know the patients better then the doctors, who normally only spend 10 - 15 minutes with patients. I know from being an ex-employee of 22 years of health care for the federal government, have seen you guys in action. The 12 hour shifts, rudeness and at times belligerent patients and family members. You still try to maintain your composure and with that being said, you guys will always “ROCK”. Thanks again to Dylan for helping me to rebuild the strength in my right knee. I also meant to mention in my survey, corporate should look into doing movies, bowling or some other form of sober fun activities, besides the ones that only take place in the facility. I truly didn’t want to end my review on a negative note, however I wasn’t able to address a situation where I fought to be unprofessional which has prompted me to leave this review. Bht Jojo has a negative attitude at times and can be aggressive with patients. As well as a firestarter by spreading gossip to one patient to another which creates a hostile environment amongst peers. On April 21, Jojo had gotten into a heated argument with patient Maggie C. yelling at her in front of myself, peers and staff on duty Bht (Katie) all which had taken place in the women’s lounge and by the Bht office. When the argument ended Jojo proceeded into the Bht’s office and closed the door, all my peers and I could hear was Jojo yelling at Bht (Katie). Which escalatored into other areas of ugliness. I have received better customer service from cashiers at Walmart then from your Sunspire employee Jojo. Patients come too Sunspire Health Texas to be provided with tools to help us to sustain a sober way of living when discharged. Not to be shredded by negative comments. When patients enter your facility for treatment we are feeling at our lowest, we come to Sunspire Health Texas not to be demoralized by staff members. Sunspire Health has a mission statement and it should be up held at all times. I truly hope future patients do not have to witness or experience such disrespect from any employee of Sunspire Health.
Andrea R. played a major part in my recovery. She always had a smile and never looked like she was stressed out and that made me more comfortable with my surroundings. Other staff would occasionally seem disorganized and would have attitudes. She is very professional and knows her job. She is definitely an asset to the Sunspire team.
Sunspire was my 2nd treatment center to attend. The first treatment I went because my family saw an issue and my life was in turmoil, so I went. But that is the key if you are not ready and refuse to realize you have a problem the treatment will not work! I will say comparing the two treatment centers, Sunspire has 100% interest in treating the patient not money driven as some have said in their reviews! The small patient capacity 40 beds is what makes this facility work. The staff have more one on one opportunities to work through problems and give their experiences/advice. My other treatment center had over 200 patients (talking about being a # and collecting money that facility was about the money) The medical staff is available 24/7 and during detox your room is close to their office and they will make sure you are comfortable and taken care of during this time. It is a 12 step based program, which I will say I was not happy at first. My therapist Heather asked me to give it a chance gave me some books to read, talked with me about deep issues I didn't realize that were still bothering me, and encouraged me to follow my faith base I grew up with. If it wasn't for her, I would not be where I am today! My faith in God is stronger than it has ever been, and I thank this facility/staff for helping me find it again! Heather gave me the best advice to follow after treatment and those rules are still written on my mirror after 7 months of sobriety! 5 rules to follow each day (Don’t drink, attend meetings, speak with other alcoholics, pray/meditate, sponsor)! There is family counseling and a family weekend for them to attend. The weekend gives them information on what to expect when we come home, what possible triggers we could have, also what support groups the family can attend. So, I don’t understand when families say they had no involvement with treatment! I am guessing your loved one decided not to include you on these sessions!!! Nutrition and food is great, you see a dietitian and if you have special diet needs they will go out of their way to accommodate. I need protein because of gastric bypass and they went out of their way and retrieved my protein powder and made the shakes whenever I requested them. There is a gym that has great trainers that take the time to assess you and what your goals are while staying at the facility. The equipment is up to date and the staff are there for questions with knowledge and experience. Yes there is a set schedule with classes, gym, pool, chapel, 12 step meetings (also outside the facility meetings), therapy, family therapy, and relaxation time. The reason for an intense schedule is to get the patient back to a routine, which we all know our routine before treatment was around our alcohol/drug of choice at the time. This helps the patient be ready for discharge, although at the time you feel like a child but there is a reason behind their rules/regulations of the facility. Since I mentioned discharge I will say they got out of their way to make sure you have the follow up after leaving and make sure you have the support for out patient treatment. The aftercare is there for the patient, its setup and available. We just have to use the information and follow up! Jena the alumni coordinator is always in contact and checking on me! She gives encouragement/support when needed! I can’t say enough about this program/staff! This program changed my life, my family, and my future for the better! What you put in during your treatment stay is what you leave with!! The staff is there for 100% support always you just have to open your mind to change!
This place changed the way I live. I am almost 2000 days without alcohol or drugs. Today I have real relationships, people can trust me, and I live in the present. If I could give 2000 stars I would. I trusted the process and use the tools I learned everyday! Forever grateful!!
People need to stop complaining about this facility. This place saved my life and all the staff were wonderful to me. Shoutout to Jena and Andreea for being incredibly caring and genuine. You get out what you put in and sunspire gave me my glow back and helped me follow a path afterward that set me up for success. I love this place. If you need help desperately and don't know where to turn, go to sunspire and do the deal. Staff is great, food is great. I appreciate this place more than I could put into words
My cousin left the facility recently and was very happy with it. The way it was told to me, is that the experience was pleasurable. The main problem was staff being inconsistent. During the day, it was always something going on. At night my cousin loved it! Shouts out to Betty, Andrea, Christina, & Katie! They were the favored! Andrea, helped my cousin the most. Her attitude towards everyone was supposedly very caring and she's compassionate. No matter what time it was, she would always listen to anyone and pass no judgement. My cousin really loved that. She was also, easy on the eyes and always smelled good. Lol. The least favorite was Caitlyn, apparently she was always inappropriate with the men and favoring them. A night guy from was mentioned, but all he did was watch movies or home work all night. This place was understaffed but, they were working on it. My cousin is finally sober and life is good in Cali!
Many people complain about the rigid structure, but if you do what you are supposed to do, you will have a positive experience. The staff (especially the BHT's) are very caring people and always willing to talk or help. I cannot speak on all the Therapists there, but Heather is excellennt and helped a great deal. The trainers up at the gym are top notch. Thank you for everything y'all did!
This place is like home...staff is awesome...food is gr8...my stay there was so helpful...I wasn't a easy client but the staff the whole staff worked with me to get on solid ground...and today I can say I'm a healthy person again...mentally and physically....and faithful...
Great facility. The staff there truly cares, lots to do and keeps you very busy. The food is great and you always have enough to eat. Lots of structure and people complain about that but it's good for you. The serenity walk is very relaxing and the personal trainers are excellent. Couldn't go wrong going here if you are looking for help. Staff follows up with you when you leave and feels good to know they are keeping up with you. Very glad I went there!
I really don't know what some of these people are talking about...apparently they have no interset in living sober...but I have been in 3 rehabs and 6 detoxes and until Sunspire was still in a using mindframe...I can truly say Sunspire saved my life and while yes, money may be the bottom line in all rehabs, Sunspire really cares...as evidenced by their alumni weekend which is just great. I would give this facility my highest recommendation and would ignore comments by those who don't want it. If you need any further information, call Jenna and I will authorize her to give you my email and I will be glad to discuss the benefits of Sunspire in your search for a better life.
